Questions about JASIS
Q1 Is there an admission fee?
A1 Admission to the exhibition venue and the New Technology Seminar is free of charge for both those who have pre-registered and those who register upon admission. Some conference programs charge a fee. Please see their respective pages for specific information.
Q2 What do the organizers consider as merits of visiting the exhibition?
A2 Exhibition visitors will include users and manufacturers of analytical and scientific instruments and dealers responsible for sales. These visitors will have the advantage of opportunities to try actual instruments and to communicate directly with people. We believe there is great value in going to see and hear about complex technologies. The exhibition venue, the New Technology Seminar, and the conference constitute three content hubs for satisfying visitor goals. This approach forms the basis for developing year by year new plans to attain rich content in each hub.
Q3 What is the JASIS concept?
A3 JASIS is an exhibition organized and run independently by the Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers' Association and the Japan Scientific Instruments Association. It is not positioned simply as a simple show-type exhibition at which devices and equipment are lined up for viewing, but rather as a comprehensive exhibition for the specialized field of analytical and scientific instruments whose goal is to provide all types of information directly related to the operational needs of visitors.

JASIS comprises three main types of content. The first derives from its stance as a comprehensive exhibition. Scientific instruments that support R&D and production technologies, analytical instruments, measurement equipment, and facilities and related products are brought together in a single place. From entrance to exit, the various instruments required by R&D are exhibited in a coherent manner. JASIS stands alongside Europe's Analytica and the U.S.A's Pittcon as Asia's major exhibition for analysis and measurement.

The second is the New Technology Seminar, which features presentations by exhibitors. Attended by 60% of exhibition visitors, new products, new technologies, and expertise are the subjects of sessions that enjoy a superb reputation among visitors.

The third comprises an academic conference, brought about through the cooperation of academic, and research bodies and held during JASIS, for reporting on academic cutting-edge technology. Four days of seminars and symposiums take place under the auspices of such academic groups and research organizations as the Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry, Japanese Society of Microscopy, and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.

JASIS concept
Q4 What are the goals of JASIS going forward?
A4 One goal is to become a total exhibition of analytical and scientific instruments, centered on analytical technology presentations, by further enhancing the value of the New Technology Seminar, other seminars, and symposiums. New strategies for attracting many international visitors will be implemented. Another goal is to develop JASIS into Asia's leading comprehensive exhibition. Back to Question
Questions about pre-registration
Q5 How will the organizers manage personal information supplied for admission registration?
A5 The JASIS website and admission preregistration system are protected by SSL encryption to prevent any disclosure of information during the visitor registration process. In addition, management and handling of admission registration data is consigned to a company with Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard JIS-Q-27001 certification, and with whom a non-disclosure agreement has been signed. If upon visitation of an exhibitor booth, the visitor's admission nametag bar code is read or business card received, promotional materials or other information may be sent by the exhibitor to the visitor's registered contact information. The organizers take seriously the management of personal information. Going forward, maximum care will be applied to the implementation of strict management of personal information by executing measures necessary to eliminate the possibility of disclosure of any personal information and by regularly auditing the management system (including the consigned company). In addition, recently there have been numerous instances of representatives from non-exhibiting companies walking the venue, both inside and out, and pressuring for business card exchange. Such exchanges may lead to unwanted solicitations as well as disclosure of personal information. In addition to posting warning signs, the organizers will make warning announcements if such activity is discovered at the venue.
Q6 I have registered. Can I stop information sending by e-mail?
A6 Yes, you can. While registering, check "Do not wish to receive information e-mails" and the organizers will not send informational e-mails. You can stop information e-mails at any time by notifying the JAIMA office at webmaster@jaima.or.jp
Q7 I received an Invitation. Do I need to pre-register?
A7 This exhibition incorporates a system that requires all visitors to register. Those who received an invitation from the organizers or exhibiting companies are also requested to pre-register.
Q8 Our company does not have an e-mail address. Can we still pre-register?
A8 If you do not have an e-mail address, you can obtain one without charge through Yahoo, Google, or other online e-mail service. This will enable you to register.
Q9 Online pre-registration is not working properly.
A9 If you do not enter required information or, if using a Japanese keyboard, mistakenly use zenkaku or hankaku characters, a message in red characters will appear in the confirmation screen. Return to the information entry screen and make any necessary corrections. If you cannot find the mistake, please contact the JASIS office.
Q10 Can I register using the Firefox browser?
A10 Yes, Firefox is supported. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Safari are also supported.
Q11 Must browser cookies be enabled to register?
A11 We will simplify the explanation about cookies in top page of the registration form for easier understanding. We will also list browser operational requirements.
Q12 Several people in our department would like to attend, but they share one e-mail address for the entire department. What should we do?
A12 Each visitor must register. Registration Complete e-mails for each applicant will be sent to the e-mail address provided. If you visit JASIS by a group of more than 10 people, please register with [4. For Group Registration]
Q13 Can I obtain on behalf of an overseas visitor an admission name tagwith a bar code for that visitor?
A13 Please use the "Pre-registration Form" on the English website. Register each visitor separately. As with the Japanese, a Registration Complete e-mail will be sent to the registered e-mail address. However, no admission name tag with a bar code or Official Guidebook will be sent to an overseas address. Overseas visitors can use the bar code on the Registration Complete screen to enable their smooth admission. If you want to receive an admission name tag with a bar code and Official Guidebook at an address in Japan on behalf of someone, please contact the JASIS office.

<Group Registration >
If you visit JASIS by a group of more than 10 people, please register with [4. For Group Registration] for details.
Q14 I'm a student. Should I use the school's address or my home address for registration?
A14 School addresses are not always reliable for receiving sent materials. Because the address you provide is used for mailing of the admission name tagand also as the address for materials requested at booths, please register an address that enables you to receive them.
Q15 I cannot find a Registration Complete e-mail.
A15 Something may have prevented the Registration Complete e-mail from arriving. If your e-mail address is correct, the registration should be complete. Please check your security settings to see whether e-mails from the jaima.or.jp or jasis.jp domains are handled as spam.
Questions about the New Technology Presentations and the Conference
Q16 Is pre-registration or advance application required to attend the New Technology Presentations and the Conference?
A16 The organizers do not accept advance applications for the individual programs of the New Technology Seminar. In cases when the presenting company anticipates attendance exceeding room capacity, the company may accept advance applications on its website or by other means. Those especially desiring to attend a particular presentation are recommended to inquire directly to the presenting companies as soon as possible. Regarding the Conference, program pages contain information on where and how to apply. Please apply to those of interest. Both the New Technology Seminar and the Conference require a JASIS admission name tag. To ensure your smooth participation on the day of attendance, please pre-register for exhibition admission.
Q17 There are many cases of being unable to attend because room capacity has been reached. Is there something you can do?
A17 When assigning room size, we place priority on the requests of exhibiting companies and make determinations based on the previous year's attendance. We also require strict observance of room capacity to ensure safety in an emergency. If attendance is not possible because room capacity has been reached, we will request that exhibitors take measures such as separate sending of materials. Some presenting companies will be accepting advance applications. If there is a theme of particular interest to you, please contact the presenting companies as soon as possible.
Q18 Programs concerning the same field that I would like to attend are scheduled for the same time. Can you schedule them for separate times?
A18 We took into consideration of many factors, including the fields and instruments covered by presentations and presenter schedules, in developing an overall balanced program. While we took care to anticipate trends and not schedule programs covering the same fields or instruments at the same time, we were unfortunately unable to accomplish this in every case. Going forward, every effort will be applied to good programming. We appreciate your understanding.
Q19 Will there be programs in English?
A19 Yes. You can confirm English sessions by the program list.
Venue
Q20 Would it be possible to hold the exhibition at Tokyo Big Sight or Pacifico Yokohama instead of Makuhari Messe?
A20 We believe that the location of the exhibition venue is a crucial factor for both visitors and exhibitors. Actualizing the JASIS concept requires selecting the optimal location. We as organizers are therefore constantly examining and considering the factors for an optimal location given below.

Regarding Pacifico Yokohama, the area of exhibition floor is not sufficient to accommodate the area covered by the current JASIS, making it problematic to hold it there.

Next, regarding Tokyo Big Sight, it is difficult at present to reserve the hall during the desired period. It is also problematic to move the exhibition while retaining the current exhibit fees due to the difference in venue use fees. Furthermore, there is a dearth of existing facilities for the holding of the seminars popular among visitors-such as the New Technology Seminar and the conference-in the vicinity of Tokyo Big Sight. This would require providing space for seminars in the venue itself. Running the New Technology Seminar and its 300 topics in the venue would not only incur construction costs, but also significant increases in venue and furnishing rental fees, leading to inevitable raises in presentation fees and deliberation of charging for admission. In this respect, the hotels near Makuhari Messe have the advantage of abundant low-cost, large-scale, and well-equipped seminar facilities where the New Technology Seminar and conferences can be held.

Therefore, despite Makuhari Messe's drawbacks in transportation and distance compared to Tokyo Big Sight, we concluded from the above reasons that, overall, moving from Makuhari Messe would not be feasible.Factors for deciding the exhibition venue.

(1)Exhibition period

Cannot hold exhibition during periods not suitable to exhibition, such as at year end or mid-summer. Need to make sure that the JASIS atmosphere is not degraded by other exhibitions held at the same time.

(2)Exhibition floor area

The current scale requires a floor area of at least 33,750m2. There are only two exhibition venues in the Kanto suburban areas, Tokyo Big Sight and Makuhari Messe.

(3)Costs

JASIS is independently run by the organizers and is not for profit. We have maintained a low exhibition charge per booth of 250,000 yen.

(4)Transportation means

Though proximity to city center attains efficiencies in time and cost, the site will be judged comprehensively based on accomplishing exhibition goals.

(5)New Technology Seminar venue facilities

The present scale requires at least 17 lecture rooms with a capacity of 100 people. In consideration of the attendees, audio equipment, seating, venue noise, and other factors must be taken into account.

(6)Conference venue facilities

The present scale requires at least 13 lecture rooms with a capacity of 100 people. In consideration of the attendees, audio equipment, seating, venue noise, and other factors must be taken into account.

(7)Venue infrastructure

Infrastructure, such as Wi-Fi, eateries, visitor registration / reception systems, must be in place.

(8)Lodgings

As an exhibition for which visitors plan short stays, and which is experiencing an increase in visitors from abroad, nearly hotel capacity and facilities must be sufficient.

Directions to venue
Q21 Is there any way to ensure a seat on the direct bus from Yokohama?
A21 For the direct bus from Yokohama, advance reservations are available from one month to two days prior to the departure date. To ensure a seat on the bus, please purchase advance ticket(s). see HERE for details.
Q22 What are the parking fees around the exhibition site?
A22 Parking fees for such large-scale event venues as Makuhari Messe, in which local public entities are closely involved, are regulated by statute. The regular fee for an ordinary vehicle is \1000 for all day. While the parking fee at the nearby Marine Stadium may be a little lower, the parking lot may close a little earlier depending on the event situation at the time. Please make your plans based on these considerations. Map(Japanese)
